A laugh-out-loud, heart-punching one-man show that navigates migration, identity and belonging through the bold, cheeky brilliance of West African storytelling.
Meet Mokan – a man on a humorously chaotic quest for The Nigerian Dream. From dodgy landlords to airport mishaps and the wild myths people believe about “life abroad,” his journey is packed with laughs, sharp observations and moments of truth that hit unexpectedly deep.
With live drumming, music, dance and playful audience interaction, this high-energy performance blends hope, resilience and the universal search for home.
Written and performed by Oldham-based, Nigerian-born writer, comedian, actor and theatre-maker Oluwasegun Lafup Ogundipe.
Directed by Mojisola Kareem of Utopia Theatre.
Iloya will also be hosting a drumming workshop on Sat 14 March at the Meeting House from 2pm-4pm. Learn traditional drumming techniques and discover how rhythm drives storytelling with Oluwasegun Lafup Ogundipe (from ÌLỌ́YÁ).
