7 April-7 April

Khushi Pop-Up: KHOOGHI

  • Description

    Tuesday 07 April | 1pm & 5pm

Part of our pop-up Khushi Festival, and a perfect half-term fun for the family!

Meet Khooghi a 153 year old dove! Born in Azad Kashmir during the British Empire, now living her best life in Bradford. Kauser’s two daughters are keener on Capital FM than their mum’s Punjabi music. Sharing her own story, together with the life and songs of Punjabi folk legend, Alam Lohar, Kauser brings them, and us, on a journey through the music she loves, and the culture she’s proud of.

Khooghi is a story from the Saif ul Malook written by Mian Muhammad Bakhsh retold in English and Pahari, brought to life in a toy theatre with over 30 funny and fabulous puppet characters. Khooghi is a story of Hope & Faith in the face of adversity.

Arrive early and hang around afterwards for fun crafting activities, just as you would expect in Khushi Festival’s joyful and inclusive approach.

In addition to the performance, KHOOGHI will be running a puppet workshop The Old Museum (OL1 1DN) on Saturday 4 April. Book both the performance and workshop together and save 10% -- simply select the amount of tickets for each event and at it will automatically calculate at checkout.
