Jonathan McGrath

Jonathan McGrath (he/they) has over 24 years’ experience working across theatre, opera, outdoor arts, site-specific and live art, and contemporary performance. His career has taken him around the world, teaching, touring, and producing work with organisations including China Plate, BAC, The Watermill Arts Center New York, The Royal Court London, The Scottish Opera, The Hebbel Theatre Berlin, The Barbican, British Council, and festivals and theatres across Europe, Canada, India, and the Middle East. 

In 2016 Jonathan joined Arts Council England as a Relationship Manager in Combined Arts, where he supported a portfolio of National Portfolio Organisations and championed artists from underrepresented backgrounds. He went on to play senior roles with Without Walls, the UK’s leading outdoor arts consortium, and FutureEverything, where he led the development of the new Stockport Creative Campus. 

At Oldham Coliseum, Jonathan leads on fundraising and development and will be building partnerships with trusts, foundations, businesses, and donors to secure investment in the theatre’s future. His focus is on ensuring that every pound raised directly benefits the people of Oldham, creating opportunities for local artists, championing the town’s diverse voices, and supporting the Coliseum’s role as a cultural home for all. 

Jonathan lives in Greater Manchester with his wife and is a father of two amateur stuntmen, aged 8 and 2.
