It unravels stories from lands afar, to places in Oldham you can get to by car. From saris we desire, to the samosas in the deep fat fryer. Told with a little spice and a spoonful of rice. A dance.
Joyce Branagh
Theatre Director, Writer and Actor based in Todmorden, but working throughout the UK and beyond. Directing professionally since 1995 specialising in Shakespeare, Pantomime, Comedy and New Writing. She has directed several productions at Oldham Coliseum. Nominated for several theatre awards for her writing and directing. Won ‘Best Play’ in Town Hall Voices 2025 for the comedy ‘Cold Reception’.
Punam Ramchurn
Writer. Works as the Head of Artist Development at Factory International – developing talent and supporting artists. Wrote her first Coronation Street episode in 2021. She’s been commissioned to write several theatre pieces for Kali Theatre, Sphinx, M6 Theatre Company and for Monkeywood.
Both artists first met in Oldham in 2007 and have since joined forces to work together on several projects across the years.
This performance is an original Co Commission between Saheli Women’s Group, Punam Ramchurn and Joyce Branagh.
