Climate Warrior Women

  • Description

From Oldham to Mangla, Khulna to Hathershaw – Climate Has No Borders

Step into a story telling performance where local voices share memories and moments of life in villages of Pakistan and Bangladesh — cooking on clay stoves, drawing water from deep wells and living close to the land.  These stories echo how the climate crisis is changing everything we’ve known — both here in the UK and our ancestral homelands.

    WHAT TO EXPECT:

    • An overview of climate change in the UK, Pakistan & Bangladesh
    • Reflections of how humans are changing the Earth
    • Real stories of resilience, tradition and transformation – written and performed by West Oldham’s own CHAI climate storytellers
    • A celebration of memory, identity and action in the face of climate change

WestOldham Chai Project and Sarah Yaseen have been working together over several weeks to create this unique and informative piece.

Sarah Yaseen is a British-born Greater Manchester based composer and singer songwriter of Kashmiri-Pakistani descent. A passionate climate justice advocate, she uses music to foster dialogue for the environment and climate change awareness.

Climate Warrior Women is an original Co-Commission for the Khushi Festival by WestOldham CHAI Project and Sarah Yaseen.
