Thursday 27 April, 2.30pm
We’re delighted that we’re launching our first ever Dementia Friendly performance with Spring And Port Wine.
We know that many people with dementia have spent a lifetime going to theatre and concerts. However, a diagnosis of dementia can reduce an individual’s confidence, and can cause family and friends to worry about going out together. This can mean increasing isolation for people with dementia, as well as their friends and family. We want to re-connect people with dementia, together with their friends and family, to life-enhancing shows at the Coliseum through this special event.
Please note that pastoral care is not provided at this event. A friend, family member or carer must also attend.
Spring And Port Wine is a classic comedy in the vein of the Lancashire comedies like Hobson’s Choice or Hindle Wakes; this performance has been specially picked to be our debut Dementia Friendly performance.
What to expect on the day:
High quality, professional theatre like all other Coliseum productions.
“When you get to a certain age, and you are indoors all day, getting out like this is so worthwhile.” – a person with dementia.
Booking Your Seats
In order that we can give you the best possible experience, we ask that you book in person or by telephone on 0161 624 2829 or by emailing access@coliseum.org.uk rather than booking online. This way we can give you the best possible information about seating, wheelchair spaces, and answer any queries that you may have. There is up to date information about our access facilities here: http://www.coliseum.org.uk/about-us/access/
We will also ask for your address / email so we can send you the special information pack before the event. If you have any comments or suggestions about the event, we would love to hear from you.
Part of ‘A Life More Ordinary’
Our Dementia Friendly events are programmed in partnership with the ‘A Life More Ordinary’ Project at The Dukes Theatre, Lancaster
‘A Life More Ordinary’ is a three year project led by The Dukes, which aims to improve the lives of people with dementia and memory loss, and their friends and families, by providing fun, creative activities and film screenings in an adapted environment.
