CULTIVATE: Acting for Camera

  • Synopsis

Unpacking the myths and tricks of acting for camera in a multi-media presentation and performance led class. Utilising visual references we will explore what works (and what doesn’t) in film and television acting. We will pay particular attention to audition and self tape technique. Each individual actor should prepare a simple piece of dialogue (either a speech or a duologue which they can perform with a friend or with the workshop leader reading in) which we will record on camera as a kind of self tape for the actor to take away with them.

Rupert Hill (Coronation Street) will impart advice from professional casting directors on the do’s and don’ts of auditions. Discuss the benefits of a digital age and making your own films and scenes on a low budget. Rupert can impart his own experiences of working in television, film and creating his own work for no money!

This event is part of Cultivate 2022, the Coliseum's week-long festival focused on theatre upskilling. Learn more about Cultivate 2022.
