Our handy guide to panto at the Coliseum compiled in life hack style – little tips to make life easier.
#1 book early for popular days like Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve
It’s incredible but these performances sometimes nearly sell out the year before. It’s best to book early and you can check availability with our friendly Box Office team on 0161 624 7829. They can advise on the best possible way to catch some of the magic and get the last few seats available.
#2 Birthday song, getting up on stage and shout-outs from stage
These are all part of pantomime magic and deservedly very popular. We can’t cater for every request but when making your booking by phone or in person you can ask to go in the book. If you book online, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or contact us with private message on Twitter or Facebook.
We pick the names out of the book at random for each show. If you’re picked, the rest is magic!
#3 Keeping it affordable
We know that Christmas is an expensive time for families so we have off peak performances throughout the run where prices are lower. We only charge peak prices for our most popular performances (like Christmas Eve!). Generally speaking, January is a good time to see the panto more cheaply and you can keep the Christmas spirit alive and beat the January blues! Full details of all pricing here.
#5 Family tickets
For Sleeping Beauty we’ve made it easier for families. You can buy as many up to 7 child tickets but your family group must include at least one adult (with a maximum of 2 adults). The panto is hugely popular with grown ups too. Some families tell us that they’ve been coming as a family for 30 years and the tradition has been handed down the family from grandparents to grandchildren who are now bringing their families.
#6 Sweeties, drinks and all good things
We sell sweets and drinks in the foyer and you can take your treats into the theatre with you. At the interval (half time!) we sell ice creams in the theatre.
The Coliseum has two bars – Circle (upstairs) and The Stalls (ground floor) we sell a full range of grown up alcoholic drinks and soft drinks too. We also sell sweets and treats in the stalls bar. There are even more places to buy goodies around the theatre and we also sell pocket money type treats from £1 in the foyer.
The panto is hugely popular with schools and our 10.15am shows sell very quickly. It’s best to book your school in for next year’s panto is to book as soon as you can once the show goes on sale. Carol Moore, our schools expert, will be happy to help you as will all our friendly box office staff, to find the best dates for your school.
#8 Groups – young and old
Rumours reach us every year that the panto is a big hit with grown ups celebrating office outings and social group get-togethers. It’s a great night out with some Big Kid jokes in there but nothing too cheeky! One office party told us that it’s the highlight of their working year and they come every year on opening night – that’s you lot, Office Depot! For younger groups like scouts, guides and drama groups the panto is a fantastic night out. For group deals check out our season brochure or phone Box Office on 0161 624 2829.
