2 For 1 Tickets at Oldham Coliseum this March

Oldham Coliseum Theatre is taking part in National Lottery’s Love Your Local Theatre campaign this March, offering 2 For 1 tickets to select performances of The Glee Club and The Ballad of Maria Marten.

The offer applies to Tuesday – Thursday performances and is available to anyone who is a National Lottery player and possesses a ticket or other proof of purchase for a National Lottery game.

Brassed Off meets The Full Monty in Richard Cameron’s raucous comedy The Glee Club at Oldham Coliseum Theatre from Tuesday 15 – Saturday 19 March (offer applies Tuesday 15 – Thursday 17 March only), presented by Stockroom, Theatre by the Lake, Cast in Doncaster and Kiln Theatre.

In the summer of ’62, five hard-working, hard-drinking Doncaster miners, together with their church organist accompanist, are frantically preparing to wow the audience of a local gala concert with their sweet tones. This is The Glee Club, a group of unlikely singers, who though being established in the working men’s clubs, aren’t exactly known for being at the vanguard of a musical revolution.

The Ballad of Maria Marten is a thrilling retelling of real-life murder mystery The Red Barn Murder. It comes to the Coliseum  Tuesday 22 – Saturday 26 March (offer applies Tuesday 22 – Thursday 24 March only), presented by Eastern Angles and Matthew Linley Projects in association with the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough.

Summer, 1827. In a red barn Maria Marten awaits her lover. A year later her body is found under the floor of the barn in a grain sack, barely identifiable, and the manhunt begins.

The Red Barn Murder was national news, inspiring writers and filmmakers down the ages. But in all this hysteria Maria’s own story gets lost. Until now. Told through the eyes of Maria and the women who loved her this beautifully staged production brings the power of movement, music and storytelling together for a heart stopping evening of theatrical magic.

The National Lottery is subsidising over 150,000 tickets at 100 theatres across the UK as a thank you to National Lottery players for the £30m they raise each week for good causes - including the arts and theatre. This campaign and promotion is run by UK Theatre and also hopes to encourage people to support their local theatre as venues across the UK look to recover from the impact of Covid-19. The money for this initiative is coming from a National Lottery promotional fund. It is not being funded by money allocated for National Lottery Good Causes or by Camelot.
