The festive spirit is creeping in slowly now that Halloween and Bonfire Night are behind us and the nights are getting steadily darker and colder… Christmas does seem to come earlier every year but then again it’s only two days until the festive programme of events officially launches in Oldham town centre and next Saturday shall be the opening of our annual panto of course.
This Saturday we will see the arrival of Santa and his reindeer to kick off the festive season along with a massive entourage of colourful characters. Among the vibrant Christmassy crowd will once again be our brilliantly dressed panto cast. Jack, Jill, Squire Knott and Fine Time Fontayne our pantomime dame, among others, will all be helping to welcome in the festive season. The procession will wind its way through the town centre from 12.45 starting from the town square.
Of course I can’t let the cast get away with having all of the fun, I will be there too with our marketing team, hot on the heels of the parade handing out panto information and getting involved. It’s always great to get out of the rehearsal room and get in amongst events in Oldham. It’s a pleasure to hear such positive comments from everyone who comes to see the parade each year about how much they’re looking forward to the panto and to see the faces of those people who come every year. So make sure you get a good spot on the parade route to catch a glimpse of the cast.
It is occasions like this where we really do see Oldham in the best light and being a part of that is something that we will always aim to do. It helps remind us that we put on shows for the town as a whole and it’s amazing to be reminded of just how much the theatre means to some people.
See you at the Parade!
