We are delighted to announce an opportunity for people across Oldham to be part of a community cast of performers in the creation and performances of a new production created by Oldham Coliseum and being performed at Oldham’s Queen Elizabeth Hall in February 2025 called The Engagement Party. The performance is about a young couple who get engaged and the community cast will take the roles of their friends and family. This is a voluntary role but travel expense will be paid.
If we’ve caught your interest, read on!
What experience do I have to have?
You don’t have to have had performed or worked in theatre before, you just have to have a positive attitude and be open to trying something new. We will invite you to work as an ensemble group and use non verbal communication skills (smiling, frowning, looking worried etc)
How much time would I have to give?
You will need to attend one of two open call casting sessions on Tuesday 10 December or Saturday 11 January. If selected you will then need to be available for three rehearsal sessions between 27 January to 15 February then 3 or 4 performances between 18 and 22 February.
Is there any selection criteria?
Community cast members will need to represent the residents of Oldham – all ages and backgrounds so our final selection will reflect our town. If you submit an application by the deadline you will be invited to an open casting call in December or January. You will however need to be aged over 18 and resident in Oldham.
Will I get paid?
No this is a voluntary role but travel expenses or shopping vouchers as a thank you gift will be provided. In return, you will meet new people, gain new experiences, contribute to your local community and have fun!
Sounds great how do I apply!
We'll be in touch to confirm next steps.
