Oldham Coliseum Theatre is looking for young people to appear in our upcoming production of Bread & Roses
We need your help to bring to life an exciting new musical stuffed full of songs, laughs and drama telling the real life story of a huge mill-workers strike in USA in 1912.
Roles are available for two girls or boys aged 8-12 to play the characters of Ruby or James. Ruby or James is the child of Lucy-Rose Atkins, a single mother who works in the mill. For these roles, we are specifically looking for young performers from Black Caribbean or Black African heritage.
We’re holding an open audition on Tuesday 8 May for the roles of Ruby or James. Registration starts at 5:00pm with an acting workshop taking place 5:30-6:30pm with Artistic Director Kevin Shaw.
This is a great opportunity for young aspiring actors to perform on the Coliseum’s stage. Recent Coliseum productions involving members of the local community include: Craig and Melody, in Brassed Off, the chorus of football fans in Meat Pie, Sausage Roll and the annual pantomime chorus.
We’ll need you to come to some evening rehearsals (dates will be confirmed nearer the time).
Rehearsals will be the week commencing: Monday 28 May, Monday 4 June, Monday 11 June, Monday 18 June.
