30 January - 21 February
An Oldham Coliseum Theatre Production
Adapted from the novel by Susan Hill, author of The Woman in Black, this tense and atmospheric new production promises to be a chilling, edge-of-your-seat theatre experience.
Eavesdrop on this gothic fireside story which tells the ghostly tale of James Monmouth, an intrepid traveller who has spent most of his life following in the footsteps of his childhood hero, the explorer Conrad Vane. Warned against pursuing this quest, James becomes ever more determined to unravel the mysteries of the past. His research leads him up and down the country, but who is the little boy who follows him on his journey, and what is the uncontrollable sobbing that only James can hear?
Visual theatre wizards imitating the dog will be on hand to scare you out of your wits. These talented innovators previously worked with the Coliseum to provide the haunting video projections in the 2012 production of Hound of the Baskervilles. Their visual antics will create an unsettling feeling that might just follow you home at the end of the night …
