The Festival of Diversity was created to help shift perceptions about Oldham, celebrating and promoting the diversity of its communities through cultural activity. Starting in 2003 as a week of summer events organised through existing community groups such as tenants associations, union groups and individuals interested in building bridges between communities; it developed into a Borough wide initiative which was able provide cultural leadership for and create links between numerous disparate communities and organisations. The Festival of Diversity was housed within the Coliseum Theatre from 2004 – 2010 when the organisation came to a close, the festival website exists as an archive to the many projects and partnerships created over the years.
