The Coliseum won not one, not two, but three awards last week – at the Manchester Theatre Awards and at the Family Arts Festival Awards in London.
On Thursday 12th March a few of the Coliseum team headed down to Rich Mix in London for the annual Family Arts Festival Awards ceremony. Voted for entirely by the public, The Family Arts Festival Awards recognise outstanding family events across over 900 organisations in the UK during the Family Arts Festival each autumn. The Coliseum won two of the five awards on offer – Best Family Venue and Best Family Welcome.
The following day, at a star-studded event at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester city centre, the Coliseum was up for eight awards at the prestigious Manchester Theatre Awards. Winners of the Manchester Theatre Awards are chosen by a panel of 11 of the region’s leading theatre critics and we were delighted to win the award for Best New Play for An August Bank Holiday Lark by Deborah McAndrew.
That same day we celebrated with one of our favourite actors, Kaitlin Howard, (who played the Slave of the Ring in last year’s pantomime) as she won the Manchester Theatre Award for Best Fringe Performance for her role in The Alphabet Girl at the Kings Arms in Salford.
